Couplings

Couplings – It pairs things, as the name implies. Couplings, in simple terms, are mechanical devices that transmit power/torque from one shaft to another.

What is the purpose of couplings?

Only if the shafts are parallel can power be transferred via various gear combinations or drives. When the shafts are in a straight line and need to be joined end to end to transmit power, couplings are utilized.

General Applications or Uses:

  • To transmit power from the driving shaft to the driven shaft in general.
  • To link or couple two distinct components, such as an output motor shaft and a generator.
  • In order to provide additional flexibility while transferring electricity in the event of space constraints.
  • Overload protection will be implemented.
  • Flexible couplings are used to decrease the transfer of shock loads from one shaft to another.
